Jewellery from the KLENOTA ATELIER

Our atelier is located in the very heart of the Old Town of Prague, an area which has been the centre of Czech goldsmithing and jewellery-making for centuries. The local atmosphere, traditions and history of this craft provide us with inspiration every single day. We build upon honest handcrafting and traditional methods when making jewels. The goldsmiths pay attention to every tiny detail in our workshop. We only work with high-quality materials from verified sources, so your jewels stay beautiful for a long time, even if they are worn every day. We understand selling a piece of jewellery is a lifelong commitment. You may purchase a present for someone close to you in our atelier or something special for yourself, but you will always get professional services for all KLENOTA jewels.

Ruby jewellery

Rubies are one of the three most popular colour gemstones. They are a type of corundum which retains a high degree of lustre even with minimal care. They rate as a 9 on the Mohs scale of hardness and only diamonds are harder than them.

COLOUR: Rubies come in colours ranging from pink to deep red. The most valuable rubies are deep red - the colour of pigeon's blood while light pink rubies are actually designated as sapphires.

CUT: Ruby jewellery is usually set with stones in traditional round or oval cuts. Interesting shapes such as marquise, heart and teardrop are particularly suitable for necklaces and rings.

WEIGHT: The weight of a ruby is expressed in carats (ct) to 2 decimal places - 1 ct = 0.20 g. With earrings and jewellery which have multiple rubies, we always state the total number of carats of all the stones.

CARE: Dip ruby jewellery into warm soapy water and clean it with a soft brush. Protect the stone from pressure and temperature shocks.
