You may purchase a present for someone close to you in our atelier or something special for yourself, but you will always get professional services for all KLENOTA jewels.

Sapphire jewellery

Sapphires are some of the most popular gemstones and together with emeralds and rubies, they make up the “big three” of gemstones. Sapphires are a type of corundum and when it comes to hardness, only diamonds are harder than them. They are very durable and stay beautiful even with minimal care - you just have to be careful to avoid extreme temperature shocks.

COLOUR: Although sapphires are widely known for their dark blue colour, all corundums with the exception of red rubies are considered to be sapphires. Besides blue sapphires, pink and yellow sapphires are also common. Pink, yellow and all other sapphires that aren't blue are called fancy. The natural gemstones are often heat treated in order to enhance their colour.

CUTSapphire jewellery is most often decorated with stones cut into round shapes. However, other fancy shapes are also used, for example ovals (popular mainly in rings), marquise, hearts, and teardrops (teardrop gemstones look particularly good in pendants).

CARAT: The weight of a sapphire, similarly to other gemstones, is expressed in carats (ct) to two decimal places. One (1) ct is equal to 0.2 grams. With earrings and jewellery which has multiple sapphires, we always state the total number of carats of all the sapphires.
